Outfit of the Day: Leopard and Levitation

I could not have asked for a better day to go out and explore nature as well as take some pictures. The sun hung perfectly in the sky and peeped through the branches at just the right angle. Today, I decided to try out some other wooded areas near me for photography and I was pleasantly surprised. It's funny how enthusiastic I get over finding a nice fallen tree or a lovely pile of leaves.

I accidentally made the mistake of sitting on a wood rail while it was wet. Oh well, nothing a washing machine can't fix. Today, I was supposed to go to a craft fair, however my day didn't turn out as planned, so instead I took advantage of the weather.

I find it so easy to become engulfed by the beauty of nature. Especially during the fall season. I'm a sucker for the smell and sound of dead, crinkling leaves. It's so therapeutic. Unfortunately, I am not able to spend my whole weekend out gallivanting due to the fact that I have multiple projects that need to get done today as well as having to work.

Right now, as I am putting this blog post together, I am listening to Patrick Watson. Lately, he has been the only artist I'll listen to. His music is very folksy indie-rock. It's such easy music to mellow out to and just relax. I strongly suggest you check him out if you listen to artists such as Bon Iver or City and Colour.

P.S. I dabble in levitation. Cool right?

Outfit of the Day: Burgundy Cords and Scarf Print

I absolutely love everything about fall. The colors, the smell, the fashion. Everything. It's a shame that it comes and goes so quickly. If I could just bask in its beauty forever, I would.

In this outfit of the day, I was down by the river taking photos for my media design class and thought to myself "Hey, what a perfect blogging opportunity" so here I am! Although the air was crisp and it was drizzling nearly the whole time, my surroundings were still awe-inspiring. As Regina Spektor says, "Leaves become most beautiful when they're about to die".

I have found myself constantly grabbing for my new pair of burgundy cords I recently purchased. The color is just so saturated and the fabric, so comfy. Hopefully, you find time to go embrace the fall colors before they are all completely gone.

Outfit of the Day/ Faceless Photography

I'm back! My sincerest apologies for being gone the past month! My life has been somewhat hectic. Balancing school, work, college applications and a blog can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. I plan on  getting back on a regular schedule of postings, so don't forget to keep checking back!

These photos were taken a week or so back for my photography class. Our assignment was to take "Faceless Portraits", which is why you may notice my face does not appear in any of these photos.

For the majority of these photos I went down by the river near my house. The day was absolutely perfect for photography. The leaves were just beginning to fall and the beauty of the scenery was humbling.
The book I am using in these photos was a book I purchased earlier that day at a local thrift store. I was originally drawn to it for its vintage charm and title. It is actually a children's prayer book. The record I have in the last photo was also purchased from the same store.

What I'm Wearing:
Mustard Sweater-Roxy
Leather Shorts- Kohls
Lace Tights- Forever 21
Teal Loafers- Target
Watch- Relic
Rings- Gift and New York

Style Revival: Loafer Lovin'

Unless you live under a rock, you most likely have noticed that loafers are showing up on every corner of the fashion world. Feet everywhere are embracing the new trend by tromping around in all different styles and colors of loafers. I have too jumped on the bandwagon by purchasing myself a studded pair as well as a leopard pair. I like to think of loafers as a classier flat. It looks a little bit more "professional" and put together. Also, they make it quite easy to add visual or tactile interest to a look. I'm currently obsessed with studded everything, so when I found out that studded loafers were being sold just about everywhere it was like a dream come true.
Loafers are a great way to incorporate color or pattern into an outfit without going overboard. Or if you are less adventurous, you can always go for a classic brown or black loafer. What is really great about this trend is that there is a loafer suitable for everyone! If you want studded turquoise loafers that will make a statement you can get them! I really think I will be wearing loafers everywhere this fall. I like the way they look with a nice colored skinny jean and tailored blazer.  If you want to try out the trend, but don't want to splurge I suggest you check your local target. They have loafers in black, leopard (that's where I got mine), and glittery! How awesome is that! And because it is Target, it is extremely affordable!

Are you going to try out the loafer trend? If so, what color/pattern of loafer are you going to get? Let me know below! :)

My Loafers:
Leopard: Target
Studded: Nine West

Trendy Topics: Burgundy is the New Black

That's right, burgundy has been chosen as one of the "it" colors for fall. Many fashion designers have been sending multiple garments in their fall collections in this deep shade down the runway. Personally, I'm disappointed. Fashion designers are supposed to be innovative with their work and inspire us. There is absolutely nothing ground breaking about wearing burgundy in fall. In fact, most people would most likely throw on a burgundy sweater or pair of flats in the fall, regardless of it being the "it" color. Counting burgundy as an "it" color for fall is like saying white is the "it" color for summer. It's old news. I think if they were going to count burgundy as a fall trend, they should pair it with another color, such as perhaps a navy blue or mustard yellow.
So am I going to contribute to this trend? Well of course. I would contribute even if it wasn't a trend because burgundy is a staple fall color. I'm sure even people who are unaware of the trend are going to follow it because it is so unoriginal.
I have absolutely nothing against the color burgundy. In fact I think it's a stunning color that I will most likely take on in the form of skinny jeans or a cardigan. The thing that just angers me a bit is that I really look forward to trying out all the new fall trends and being on top of the fashion world, and with trends as bland as this, there really is nothing special to look forward to slipping into this fall.
How do you feel about burgundy being classified as a trend this fall? Does it disappoint you as well?
